Mindful Paws supports children, young people and adults aged 8–25. We also offer individual adult coaching for anyone navigating a life transition, feeling stuck, or simply looking for a space to think. This is not just for parents and carers, though they are very welcome too.
Absolutely. Many of the young people we work with have found previous provision or more traditional modalities challenging. We never pressure participation, always follow the young person's lead, and take as much time as is needed. There is no expectation. Just a warm, open door.
We always agree this at the outset of any placement. For some young people, particularly in the early stages, having a parent or carer nearby is important and completely welcomed. We take a flexible, responsive approach and will always discuss this with families beforehand.
No two sessions look the same, and that is by design. Sessions are shaped entirely around the young person: their interests, their pace and what feels right on that particular day. They might include bushcraft, baking, art, photography, music, games, a walk in the countryside, time in our meadow, or alongside our therapy dogs. There is no set agenda, no pressure and no box-ticking.
Sessions take place at our hub in Old Welwyn or in our beautiful private meadow space. Where appropriate, we can also come to a young person's home or community setting, wherever feels most comfortable and most safe.
Our provision can be funded via EHCP, Alternative Provision budget, Local Authority commissioning, or private arrangement. Please get in touch to discuss what might work for your family or young person.
