Specialist Support for Adults in Hertfordshire

About

At Mindful Paws, our work does not stop with young people. We offer specialist support for adults at any stage of life - whether you are navigating anxiety, burnout, a significant life transition, or simply have a sense that something needs to feel different.

We also offer dedicated support for parents and carers of young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs, because we know that when you are supported, your child feels it too.

Whatever brings you here, our approach is the same: gentle, deeply relational, pressure-free and shaped entirely around you.

1:1 Adult Coaching

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, directionless, or disconnected from what matters most. Our coaching sessions offer a space to pause, reflect and begin to find your way forward -at a pace that feels right for you.

We combine transformational coaching with the calming presence of nature and canine-assisted co-regulation. Sessions take place beyond four walls, in the fresh air, alongside our therapy dogs, in our beautiful private meadow or in the surrounding countryside. For many adults, this alone feels like something genuinely different: a space to breathe, to slow down, and to think with real clarity.

This may be for you if:

  • You feel stuck, lost or uncertain about your next steps
  • You are experiencing anxiety, burnout or emotional exhaustion
  • You are navigating a significant life change; a relationship, a career, a loss, a transition
  • You feel disconnected from yourself and want to rediscover a sense of direction and purpose
  • You are a parent or carer who needs a space of your own
  • Traditional therapy or coaching has not felt right for you

Adult coaching at Mindful Paws has no age restriction - we work with adults at every stage of life, from young adults navigating early independence to those in midlife and beyond.

Support for Parents of Young People with SEMH Needs

Parenting a child with complex social, emotional and mental health needs is one of the most demanding experiences there is. The worry, the paperwork, the meetings, the moments of not knowing what to do, and yet so much of the support available focuses on the young person, leaving parents without a space of their own.

At Mindful Paws, we understand this world intimately. We offer a dedicated space for parents and carers where you can speak freely, feel truly heard, and access both emotional support and practical guidance from someone who genuinely understands.

This may include:

  • 1:1 coaching and emotional support
  • Support in understanding and responding to your child’s needs at home
  • A space to process your own feelings without judgement
  • Signposting and advocacy where appropriate

When you are supported, your child feels it too. That is why supporting you is at the heart of everything we do.

What to Expect

Sessions are shaped entirely around you. There is no set agenda, no pressure and no fixed model, just a warm, consistent space in which you can begin to feel yourself again.

For adults, our Walk & Talk sessions are particularly valued: moving side by side in nature, with the gentle grounding presence of our therapy dogs alongside us. Many people find that the things they most need to say are simply easier to access when they are moving, outside, and away from the usual environments of their life.

Sessions take place at our hub in Old Welwyn, in our beautiful private meadow space, or wherever feels most comfortable and most safe for you.
